The idea of the United States/Canada losing it's unique regional dialects and accents in favor of a completely universal "American English" is extremely sad to me. I honestly think action needs to be taken to prevent this.

There are definitely more. People who live out West have a very distinct accent, for example. But even then there's smaller differences between states.
