OP isn't wrong, but at the same time it's interesting how that mindset is what made everyone go to twitter instead when they feel they have something noteworthy to say. They're similar because they want recognition more than they want an idea to spread, but now everything is twitter so you almost have to go there if you just want an idea to spread.
