During this Iran War, I have seen a new sentiment arise on X that Iranians are White or that Iran is some homogenous mass. Most often people will show an image of Khamenei's granddaughter or Khamenei himself. But, these people are just objectively not White. We correctly assess that Jews are not White, but we have a major blind spot when it comes to white skinned people of MENA or South America. For example, Khamenei is half Azeri and half Persian. Iran itself is only about 51% Persian. Even if he has white skin, he is not a White person.
The second person I want to look at is Walter W. White. Walter W. White was an African American with white skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. He led the NAACP despite being only 15.6% African. Despite this, he is correctly identified by African Americans as one of them.
Sally Hemings, is called Black because she had 25% African Ancestry. Despite this, she was light skinned and had straight hair. Her son, (her son's father was Randolph Jefferson, a White Man) is still understood as Black despite being only 12.5% African. The generation of the Founding Fathers correctly identified Sally Hemings and her son as Black but today, many Right Wingers would call them White.
This is evident with the fact that Nick Fuentes is considered White. Genetically, he is further from White people than Jews are. In a time when we can access genetics and compare how far ethnic groups are from each other, we should not have a worse understanding of race than the people of 1789 did.
In short, white skin does not make you a White person. White people are a distinctive people of Europe, not just a skin colour.
