if art were meant to be subversive then why do drawfags sperg out over any fictional depiction of anything that goes against their beliefs? Is art only a mean to express for leftist trannies and does making political art while being centrist/rightist makes you automatically a branigger?

Also the person who drew picrel is a wompa if that means anything to you.

I feel like this is the obvious answer, but when people, especially critics, use the word 'subversive', on the face of it it means 'subverting tropes/expectations/normalcy' but the subtext is actually that it subverts what is good. If I wrote a movie where the modern trope of a badass hero lady was subverted (thus making it a proper story about a damsel-in-distress), it would technically be subversive, but no critic would ever praise it as such because it is subverting something bad to make it good and not vice versa.

Tbat's the thing because if subversive means making something that's widely acceptable then what is the point of calling it subversion anymore?
