Long hair was normal in the ancient times because of the ability to cut hair was slow and tedious

but we live in Modern Times and its good to be clean and shaven. Not cut your hair too short to look square but keeping it clean for practical reasons (not getting it caught in machinery)

especially when you get past age 60
