I used to work as an engineer on a system which processed employee shifts as claims against a federal healthcare program, shifts with a geolocation start and end point. Not only could a shift span over DST, but Arizoniggers presented the most complicated business logic I have ever programmed. Picture this - calculate the hours worked in a state where there are 5 different, "time zones", so not only can a shift span across DST, but depending on where the employee was at the beginning and end of the shift you gotta figure out how to adjust the time.
