>>2964235closed positions immediately, not profitable. tbh i dont understand why oil prices go up when refineries get hit. it happened a lot during ukraine and it never made sense to me because if you destroy refineries that means there's more crude in the warehouses piling up and they have to lower the price to get the fuck rid of it faster. maybe i'll go to sleep, wake up, and it'll be $150 usd for no particular reason

>>2964344>tbh i dont understand why oil prices go up when refineries get hitLow supply means the stockages are going to run out while the demand is still the same, the cheapest askers who can deliver that stuff at low price are slowly nuked, the bidders have to buy stuff somewhere else more expensive.
That plus panic buying because the expectation is an increase in price, it means you're in for a bullrun that could fuck up the average man who just want to go to work, and make rich those who buy first.

>>2964395but when we talk about the price of oil, we're talking about crude oil - not petroleum or diesel or whatever. the price of petroleum will go up from this, but the price of oil won't necessarily. i think it's possible oil could go up if people are scared that iran will target actual drilling sites. for reference ukraine has not (even once) attacked a russian oil drilling site during the entire 4 year war

It's like a car engine, you broke one part and the rest may feel slightly or completely shut it down.
If you fuck up the main source the entire globe feels it, no more raw material, if you fuck up the transportation that's anotger huge hit, if you kill a giant refinery you need to move somewhere else until repaired or built somewhere else to process all that oil.
Crude oil it's useless even at low price, nobody buys it and you don't have extra refineries ready for this incovenient.
â„–2964485[Quote]
don't know if you can follow my esl schizo ramblings, but since we don't build more than what we need, we don't have additional refineries ready to process the oil surplus.
â„–2964503[Quote]
>>2964485it's true, but i don't see how that affects the price of crude. if anything it would make crude cheaper because there's more of it filling up the warehouses, i think? remember during covid when they were paying people to buy barrels of oil? as far as refined product being more expensive because the refineries got destroyed, most advanced countries refine their own shit. afaik only poor countries buy refined products (refineries are really simple to build - only retards don't know how to build them)

>>2964514i think people don't give a fuck anymore, after ukraine, and the 12 day war. i watched oil prices hardly move at all during the missile exchange in june. the price has been static for like 2 years while the craziest shit possible happened. no one cares anymore lol. i made a lot of money on oil in 2022 and 2023. it's almost impossible to make money now. the 10% movement you just saw was happening every week a couple of years ago, for no particular reason, just because of ukraine anxiety
