>>2949061The Good and the True are too slippery. You know, what is good? Who knows? Is it good to give the guy a dime? Is it good to support a socialist revolution? What is the True? Nobody knows. But the Beautiful is easy to discern. And if you have no taste, God help you, because you are self-condemned to an appalling nightmare. That's the way to set the compass: not toward truth, not toward the good, because these are so slippery, but toward beauty. And with that in place, to my mind, life, hope, follows as a natural consequence.
Beauty is self-defined, perceived and understood without ambiguity. It's the stuff that lies under the skins of our individual existences.
