Discuss anti-Irish, anti-Italian, and anti-Catholic prejudice in 19th century and early 20th century. Do you believe it was justified? Why or why not?

Catholicism made them more loyal to the fake antichrist jewish p*pe, rather to the United States.

I have mostly unfavorable opinions regarding the bulk of Irish-Americans, but I'm inclined to disagree on the Italian-Americans.

 â„–2942506[Quote]

Being raised Catholic they were right to be against it and there is some truth that ethnic Europeans brought organized crime. It was more of a religious difference than racial conflict though at least when it came to the Irish despite what some schizos say

Irish americans still piss me off

It doesn't really make sense to me, but I'm sure there was some nuance to the topic at the time that we can't understand. There are a lot of theological issues I have with both Protestantism and Catholicism but I would certainly consider the latter to be both more cohesive and conducive to a better society. I know the conflict is also ethnic in nature but I've never had any issues with Italian nor Irish Americans.

I think it's pretty funny how the anti-Catholic sentiment is still manifest in the Southern United States, where the average person will also proudly support Israel and proclaim Jews as the chosen people.

i think any irish american hate is justified because im an asshole. but italian americans are bigger assholes

I think the average western Catholic isn't actively papist in their thinking, if that makes sense. Sedevacantists are obviously a minority, but my impression has it most Catholics here are indifferent to the pope. Libshits who happen to be Catholic will support xer discrees, clittyservatives will openly admit they think he's wrong.

The manager at one of my previous jobs was like them; he seemingly had this "based and Christpilled" conception of himself (xe was a MIGA conservative who regularly uses 4chan) but acted as if Catholicism was a freakish cult when I asked him about his denomination.

It's funny, today Catholics are thought of as liberals when 200 years ago they were thought of as being too reactionary and having a "medieval mindset"

Vatican II effectively pissed away the more reactionary elements of Catholicism (ignoring sedevacantists).

catholics are supposed to be reactionary and medieval-minded, progressive catholicism is a deviation

there are still reactionaries inside the Church its just that they're less frequent now

Do people actually get excommunicated for that kind of thing?

 â„–2942601[Quote]

It was justified within the American context, these groups are too collectivist and hard to assimilate

Reactionary and medieval-minded

Yeah the church was medieval minded 400 years before the medieval era began
And it was reactionary 1800 years before the term was invented by french revolutionaries yeah

i think in some respects, it makes sense for immigrants to struggle initially to adjust to a new country. it justs just that most Europeans are elastic (brain elasticity and temperament) enough that they could eventually settle and find a place in the US.
