I think it has to do with the fact that the artist went out of their way not only to combine Neon Genesis Evangelion and Serial Experiments: Lain, but to corrupt them both with tranny influence in one fell swoop by drawing Lain, a very reserved character, as a whore and presumably encouraging Shinji to live a similar lifestyle.
