Those big cities presence rapes all nearby counties to the extent that, in my opinion, living anywhere in central Florida or lower is usually a terrible decision with few exceptions. I would say the best general area you could choose would be somewhere in the pan handle, but not on the coast, somewhere closer to bordering Georgia or Alabama. Jacksonville sucks so you don't want to be close to that city, but I think the area that is north of Orlando, but south of Jacksonville near Gainswville is also fine.
