Fun Fact 1:
President Jefferson Davis temporarily had an adopted black son.
He was seized by the yankees and Davis didn't stop looking for him until the day he died.

The Union Army was 43% immigrants (and their sons) while the Confederate Army was not even 5% immigrants.

Fun Fact 3:
The Confederate Army was comprised of Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Indians, Arabs, Asians and Irish.
The Blacks who fought were mostly fighting out of loyalty to their White comrades.
The Whites mostly fought for freedom, loyalty, or were conscripts. (Though some did fight for slavery,)
The Hispanics mostly fought out of loyalty to their States and Faith.
The Asians fought for slavery for the most part.
The Indians fought for freedom.
The Arabs fought out of loyalty to their Christian brothers in the face of one of America's only two nonchristian Presidents

I've seen the Bonnie Blue a few times. There is a Confederate monument up here, actually. It's in Allendale Community Park.
I actually once went to a cornfield where two associations for Civil War veterans were recruiting. I got to see the Blood-Stained Banner, Stars and Bars, and Stainless Banner along with a ton of other historicial flags in person.

The statue has a Union Soldier, A Confederate Soldier, and a Black in between the two.
Part of the reason Lee was a National Hero instead of just a Southern Hero was his promotion of unity, which likely stopped a second civil war, and also guerilla war.

I have a book showing pictures of all the Confederate Currency variants, let me see if I can find a picture of that one.

>>2663257One of the books that helped spark the Civil War was "The Impending Crisis of the South."
The Book called for an end to slavery. This was because the author wanted to stop the growth of Africans.
Despite this,
It's description of a Haiti like situation horrified the Southern gentry and was a major justification SC leaving the Union.
β2663266[Quote]
>>2663261The book was heavily promoted by members of the GOP, and many GOP members even called for slave revolts (Haiti style)
South Carolina was fearful it would happen so they said because the common Government was calling for a servile insurrection, they must leave the Union.
Six States followed, and they formed a new Confederacy.

>>2663266President Buchanan said he could not attack the States.
Lincoln than gets in power, and orders the preparation of an Army, causing more States to leave.

Does anyone know an archive of the Richmond Dispatch?
I'm looking for these two quotes below.
>"We would rather lose all our slaves than be slaves to them. It may suit the purposes of the North to represent the Southern defence to the world as a war for slavery. It is no such thing. It is a war for our own liberties & independence."
-Richmond Dispatch (6/29/1864)
>"Now, in regard to slavery, it seems impossible to make our position clear to the Northern understanding. For the ten thousandth time we repeat, we are not fighting for slavery."
-Richmond Dispatch (9/19/1864)
