whatever festivities you have this new year, whatever traditions you have this year, out of all of them, please do not do new year resolutions. why, out of all days, do you dare to start something you never thought you could ever do or make any attempt at on a day about something completely different? do you think you will stick to it this time because of some "new year new me" effect? it will not happen. instead, set smaller goals for yourself throughout the year, or employ some other way to make these goals more manageable. it's better to not bullshit yourself with rosy sweet nothings about how much better you'll be in this new year. with that said, just enjoy your new year. don't start things that you wouldn't any other day. it's a holiday, you don't deserve that pressure. have fun. go out with friends. spend time with family. get on with these 'resolutions' when you're ready, ready to push, ready to get off your ass. please, don't lie to yourself. if there's anything you should do, you should be honest with yourself, smoke and mirrors never helped anybody.
