The west has been declining since the end of World War Two. There is a tremendous demographic and economic shift from middle class boomers being the norm, to immense economic inequality and stagnant social mobility. Not to mention the fact that demographics have been sub replacement in Europe as far back as sixty years ago, and in the USA, since the 90s.
