Doe it's not that reliable as it can be misleading, I mean Nauru never made shit but it had extremely high GDP because they export phosphate.
There are better systems to be used

By the way GDP is constructed is is almost inevitable that GDP will correlate with tons of things very highly, purely by virtue of its parts correlating with tons of other things found in different composites. This is even more true for the reason that some of the things included in GDP are directly included in other things
