You can hear greeks, armenians, and kurds speak at length of lands they say were taken from them of peoples who in their telling vanished in a single night with so called ottoman imperialism named as the sole and simple cause. their laments echo loudly repeated and recorded yet there is no such chorus for the turks who lost the balkans as their homeland no widely told elegy for the three million who were displaced, killed, or left behind. little is said of those who stayed who endured assimilation quietly carrying their sorrow without slogans or monuments their grief did not become a narrative. suffering is acknowledged only when it is spoken by the (((right))) voices while the rest is dismissed buried and forgotten hell even my people have forgotten them it saddens me beyond imagination
