ever wondered where all the hare krishnas went? loudly dressed and chanting foreign things these hippies were once infamous wherever they were, however with the mass influx of south asians to the west driving the religion moreso to mainstream hinduism (even if harekrishnas original intention was to bring legitimate south asian spirituality to the west as opposed to previous newage hodge podge nonsense mixing it with larpaganism, wicca or just making stuff up for fun, nevertheless actual hindus moving enmasse and many joining the movement have made it more mainstream with regular hinduism) along with the rise of atheism causing the decline of new age or other spiritual movements among westerners who reject their family's faith more likely to be reddit atheists than join any sects of religions whether established or newage or cults etc. quite an interesting decline but in an era where any and all established religions struggle to stay afloat in the west it does make sense many of the more obscure and esoteric would be hit worst of all
