This attitude toward speech is not only some of the worst advice I have ever heard, but also just absolutely brain-dead when it comes understanding how people operate. Swearing demonstrates that your brain is working on a fundamentally lower level of intelligence when speaking. Being able to "come up with devastating insults" does not make you SMART, it makes you a wholesome reddit chungus millennial who can't communicate his thoughts with grace and sincerity. Obscenities are literally processed in your brain in a very different way than other regular words, they are emotional and reactive. If you are a MAN, your speech should not be either of those things. If your entire way of speaking is predicated on how well you can insult someone, you are making yourself purposefully insufferable. This guy probably thinks calling someone a "douche-canoe" is the funniest thing ever.

The reality of the situation is the exact opposite of what IRL mulletjak here is saying. Purposely forbidding yourself from speaking obscenities will make your speech more intelligent and will demonstrate a higher level of thinking because you are conscious about your speech at all times. Not only that, but what is arguably more important is that it just makes you are more pleasant and upright person to be around. I know that we are brought up in a world that teaches you not to value such things, but it is very important.

You can tell by the intonation of this guy's voice that the reason he is so insistent on this point is because he REAALLLY wants to appear smart, but he also REEEALLLY doesn't want to have the maturity or willpower to give up swearing.
