It has been 3 years since Hamas attacked Israel, starting the Gaza war.

On October 7, 2023, a series of coordinated armed incursions from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel were carried out by Hamas and several other Palestinian militant groups during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. In response, Israel launched a major military operation in Gaza.

Memorials for the victims of the attacks have been held in Israel at homes, roadsides, kibbutzim and the Nova music festival site, where militants killed more than 360 people and took 44 hostages.

Jewish organizations like Chabad-Lubavitch have used this event to honor Jewish heroes of the attack.
