Today it was announced that French electronic DJ Vincent Pierre Claude Belorgey, professionally known as Kavinsky, has died. On July 28th, Parisian police conducting a welfare check found him deceased in his home. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed, but Belorgey likely suffered a stroke since he had complained of headaches in the days leading up to his death.
Kavinsky was one of the most beloved and influential artists in France's house music scene, being compared to the likes of Daft Punk and Danger. He first broke into the mainstream with "Nightcall", a hit that was featured in the 2011 American cult classic action-drama film "Drive", starring Ryan Gosling. In 2013, he released his first and most celebrated studio album titled "OutRun".
Belorgey was a friend to many of his peers in the industry, including Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk.
