Happened Today
As the British government continues their campaign to lock down internet spaces for the "safety and security of children" Kier Starmer announces that a ban on social media platforms for children under the age of sixteen is to be in effect. The government claims that these new set of rules will stop children from being able to connect with strangers online along with accessing adult content. To add onto this Kier Starmer has recently urged technology companies to comply along with warning that they have three months to introduce AI systems that will prevent and scan all messages and images for 'p being received or shared to and from cacas on messaging platforms such as Discord, WhatsApp and iMessage.

How to Verify?
People dox themselves to gain unrestricted access to certain platforms by submitting their face photo, passport, driving licence or credit card as a form of identification to their desired platform via a 3rd party vendor that backs the platform such as k-ID or Yoti, in return the platform receives an age and your identifying information stays on the vendor's server usually for 30 days (AKA forever).

ID Verification's Current Progress
So far ID verification is slowly being rolled out to platforms and websites. Currently gaming platforms such as Xbox are restricting users from features like Xbox Live Party voice chatting, in-game chatting & game invites regardless of Xbox Live Gold membership with PlayStation soon to follow - urging their player base to verify now sooner than later. Adult websites along with EPI content on sites such as Xitter are also inaccessible to gooners/SoyBooru users which has been in effect for almost a year now.

Those in the technology industry have warned against the restriction of the internet in the United Kingdom throughout the last year claiming that ID verification systems (Known as doxing yourself) is not only a security risk in the event of a major leak but censorship that goes two ways; If you choose to verify the government now know exactly who you are online affectively removing anonymity, those who chose not to verify will now be heavily restricted or unable to access not only social media sites but your own mobile phone as seen by Apple's new 26.4 iOS software update (more information on this here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20qwz9xzr9o).
