He received a life sentence. The Afghan citizen had stabbed his 15-year-old daughter over a dozen times with a kitchen knife in Vienna-Donaustadt in November 2025. According to the prosecutor, this happened to “erase the family disgrace” because the girl had a boyfriend against her father’s will. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
“There is no more heinous crime than wanting to kill your own child,” the presiding judge justified the jury’s verdict. Stabbing one’s own child lying on the ground until it no longer moves is “almost unimaginable.” Only the intervention of witnesses saved the life of the severely injured girl. The accused “no longer deserves the title ‘father’,” she concluded. The prosecutor waived legal remedies, defense attorney Peter Philipp has appealed. The verdict is therefore not legally binding.
According to the indictment, the girl’s family did not agree that she had a Romanian boyfriend of the same age. The problem: He was neither Muslim nor Afghan. In addition, the family had planned to marry her off to a man from Afghanistan. Therefore, the father decided to stab the daughter in public, the prosecutor stated.
