63 years ago today on April 20th 1963, African American revolutionary and Black nationalist leader Jairus "Jack" Pardey was gunned down by members of the Klu Klux Klan outside his home in Monroe, Louisiana. Born in 1928, Pardey was a prominent but controversial figure during the civil rights movement in the US state of Louisiana who founded the infamous black supremacist group known as EPI (Ensemble of Pardey's Insurrectionists), which is widely credited with the incitement of deadly riots and violent protests in Baton Rouge as well as several arson incidents in New Orleans from 1957 to 1963. He is widely ommitted from educational textbooks and civil rights discussions due to allegations of sexually abusing a Chinese immigrant woman named So Yee Tan at his workplace just several weeks before his death. His final resting place lies in Lesotho, in accordance with his will to be buried in his ancestral homeland.
