Finally got booked to play a concert. Only downside is it's an hour away from me in this college town, everyone there is probably annoying. Plus the venue is tiny and there'll probably be less than 50 people there.

Still looking forward to it anyway. I'll have more credit to my name than having albums uploaded to jewtube. Farcicle

Keyed, playing small shows for frat bros is much more fun than actual festivals. While I want to continue furthering my musical career I will miss just playing smaller gigs for the fun of it.

If my friend is to be believed, (a chuddy of mine from HS helped get me booked) there will be more artsy nerd types than frat bros, so I'll play my avant garde noise/drone music. Though hopefully frat bros come later because I also make hardcore techno

Either way I'm excited more for future prospects and what happens next

noise/drone stuff is awesome, either way thats great you found a enough people into it to play live for geg.
What sort of instruments/tech do you play? I take it you use digital software and font programing but what sort of gear do use live

My live setup consists of my guitar/amp/pedals, then I use ableton for everything else.

I play a gretsch through a ton of fuzz, echo and reverb and slowly build a like, shoegaze wall noise kinda sound using the looper pedal. Then I add in the other drone laters with ableton to get these absolutely massive sounding melodic drones. Then I just strip back the layers and start over with a different scale and call it a new song geg

I get a half hour to play my show next week so I'll probably have enough time for like two songs

Oh wow, when you mentioned techno I just assumed you mainly did synths&sampling. Ive never really considered Ableton, is their anything you'd recommend if I where to start looking into it?
I myself play atmospheric tribal-industrial, I mainly do vocals but I also play a bass for added layering. While I used to mostly use Electro-Harmonix gear but Ive recently sold off most my pedals, however I still predominantly use an old RC-20XL Phrase Recorder for live looping, which Im currently looking for a good drum machine to synch up to live.

@starofdeath_forest

There's a ton of music on there, but my best drone album is yamantau. And my only techno album so far is no mercy unit

I would definitely reccomend ableton if you can shell out some money for it, (normally I just pirate when I can but the ableton company is actually making some good stuff, It's a one time paid program and not a subscription service which I appreciate.)

But yeah essentially just learn how to use the basic features of the program and then experiment to find sounds that you really like. You can use ableton like a digital modular synth, or you can use it like FL studio. The possibilities are almost endless

Also a MIDI controller is incredibly helpful
