>Complete oversaturation of bright colors and presumptuous modernization. The first movie had a very painterly look to it and an often dark, adult tone, atmosphere, and asthetic that was reminiscent of a lot of Medieval artwork. It was unique for that in a sense, whereas this shit just leans hard into the complete opposite and essentially feels like it takes place in an entirely different universe, which leads me to my next major issue
>Overt reliance on pop culture references. The first movie mainly took shots at old Fairy Tail tropes EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE as a way for the creators to take a shot at their former employers over at Disney. This dogshit literally has poorly disguised product placement for shit that's apparent in the modern real world which again, doesn't feel like it belongs. Far Far Away is blatantly supposed to be a coded swap in for Hollywood, Fiona's mother is reading a book titled "Kings are from Mars", as a reference to "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus", One of the potions at the potion factory is labeled Fiagra, and it's on a blue bottle, Shrek's swamp house has mail delivered to it (makes no sense since everyone would still hate and fear him as this movie itself proves with the scene where they meet Fiona's parents, so who's been sending him any mail at all!?), plus it has a board of Parcheesi and a music system that plays Le Freak another lame and heavily forced pop culture add in, the love potion has a IX on it, as a reference to Love Potion N9, there's an embarrassing Cops parody in the movie at one point called "Knights," Magic Mirror is now a TV that airs TV shows/channels (ME! Entertainment, Wheel of Fortune, and KNIGHTS) and has a remote control, need I go on???
>There's multiple different perverse bits of objectification placed deliberately throughout various points in, what is primarily made to be created for an included child audience, which I find to be notably concerning, like for example…..
>Big Bad Wolf reads erotic magazines of female pigs (meaning he has a sexual fetish for them) and eats bacon flavored fried pork rinds, so he's a perverse fetishist as well as a crossdressing faggot, and Shitworks thought it was a good idea to put all this trash in their movie for kids???? To further exemplify this abhorrent distortion of innocent children's myths……
>Pinocchio secretly likes to wear a pink thong despite secretly wanting to be a human child, which is something that is hammered into the film repeatedly
>Fiona comes from a flashy kingdom called Far Far Away which is similar to Beverly Hills, had a stereotypical girly bedroom full of posters (including one that says "Chastity Belt" - another perverse corruption of the youth considering Fiona grew up lost in a castle, meanning she would've had that poster on her wall likely as a child or possibly even before!? - 🤮), and was obssesed with marring a prince charming as a child, writing "Mrs Fiona Charming" in her diary over 30 times
>Donkey was once at a birthday party in which the children got drunk and then started to hit him with sticks thinking that he is a piñata, more shitty and unoriginal writing that's paraded as being even moderately "good" just because it's from a once popular IP (that's luckily dead now, thank God)
>Donkey and Dragon had sexual intercourse and the latter gave birth to donkey/dragon mutant babies, cross species beastiality apparently??? Because that's a good idea to implement into kids, right? That won't demoralize them or make them completely degenerate, right guys? 😒
>Shrek and ogress Fiona need to shave their face with shaving cream and razors, promoting tranny shit onto, again, a movie supposedly made for the youth, why is this not an issue with everyone???? 🤦🏻♂️
>In regards to some of the plot issues, the story being basically being a retarded and juvenile combined ripoff of Who’s Coming to Dinner? and Meet The Fockers doesn't help.
>Many jokes go on for far too long, like Puss' entrance into the main group which was just stupid and purposefully as cringe and as overdrawn as possible, Donkey's irritating as fuck "Are We There Yet?" scene, the overrated as hell dick measuring contest between Shrek and Fiona's Dad, the shitty ending song that's nowhere near as to the point as the one in the far superior first film was, etc.
This shit is a bastardization of the first movie. 4th one isn't good either as the whole thing re-writes Shrek's entire character to apparently not wanting to have everyone love and accept him despite the first one literally being about him feeling alone until he met Donkey & Fiona because literally no one else would accept him, so the whole entire plot of the shitty 4th movie never happens if that overrated as fuck series has any internal consistency whatsoever, but I guess I shouldn't expect anything less from a series bred solely from spite for another animation studio.
TL;DR - Shrek 1 is the only good one, the rest of them suck.
