>inb4 /mtv/ decides it's trooncore because low poly graphics in 2025 make their clitties leak for some reason

…well I mean it probably IS trooncore I just fucking hate /mtv/rds grouping and denouncing everything by genre and look alone

Name a boomer shooter/metroidvania with PS1 graphics that looks like it could run on a PS1 and a developer that isn't a troon to prove you aren't just a contrarian. From these screenshot alone I can tell this is could not run on an original hardware and the low poly aesthetic are just an excuse for the dev to churn out models as fast as possible.

its from like a year ago also he still depicts himself as a fat retard on his site so i dont think xe trooned

what? I will never understand this argument, where do these games claim they are trying to faithfully reproduce psx graphics? nowhere. and it's pretty ironic you ignorantly label everything "PSX graphics", this game could very well be an attempt on dreamcast graphics geg
I mean it's a stylistic choice, I don't understand why it has to be a 1:1 to OG PS1 capabilities, it would be pretty boring if every game looked the same, it's much better that they just take the inspiration and few limitations to craft their own look
honestly I hate the PS1 z-buffer jitter and I'm glad most of these games don't reproduce it, even back then devs tried to reduce it in some games

aaaand I can tell you never tried developing a game, or create anything worthwhile whatsoever
if you want to rag on low poly games, shit on those shovelware devs that just use synty unity store assets for everything, in this game all the assets were obviously at least made by the devs hand
also having an efficient style that both looks good and is fast to make is great, gamedev is hell already as it is

I don't care about this game, I never played it, but I'm really tired of pajeet retards on /mtv/ like you that spout nonsense parroted opinions like this and contradict themselves in every thread

Im currently gangstalking the developer and the only help he had was for concept art. Use of low poly models is justified because the average person does not have time to make or learn how to make optimized high detail models while working on code and quests at the same time. Also gamedev isn't his full time job

its shit I saw a normalnigger video essay on it and it looked lame as fuck besides some of the art direction

I made my own game engine.
You may be right about soycacas having a hateboner for low-poly because most of them base their personality around owning da troooons, but I'm personally pissed at the nostalgiafagging not even done right.
It's clear the game is trying to ride the ps1 trend with the low-res textures, lowpoly models and wobbly vertexes, but requires a dedicated GPU and 4 GB RAM, has per-pixel lighting and post-processing effects such as bloom, something you most likely couldn't run on a 1 mb vram hardware.

Every fucking computer has these nowadays. If you have extra resources why not use them to make better lighting

I think games who go for the retro low poly style should have good textures and not wobble cuz its fucking annoying. Ridge racer on the ps1 didn't have textures that were stretched and muddy even tho they were low rez because the devs knew what distance and angle you would view them from.
I also attached a screenshot of a low poly model i like and one that i think looks like ass
