Saying that Kiev is "Ukrainian" is like saying that Ancient Egypt is the same as Arab Egypt. Kiev is Russian. Just because Arab Egypt is on top of the land that was once Ancient, Hellenistic Egypt, does not mean that it is the same. Just like how Ukraine, which is an invention by Lenin and Austrian and Polish occupation authorities, just because it is on top of what is now Kiev, does not mean they are identical, but Russia is Kiev.
