I like how tragic and fucked up it gets for Okabe yet it still manages to cheer him up every once in awhile even in the thick of the time leap insanity.

I like how its more about Okabe making friends and sacrificing everything for them instead of killing hitler or the butterfly effect like I thought it would be about prior to watching it. The timeleap machine forces each character to open up to him about increasingly personal shit to save Mayuri.

It breaks me when Okabe hears that Mayuri is remembering her deaths and he has to try to make her believe the lie that they're all just dreams. Then he cheers her up with his old charade just to realize that her time is up again so he desperately tries to kill himself to throw the timeline off balance but the divergence barrier won't let him.

Tsmt. It really is more of a drama/romance than a sci-fi anime. That being said the anime does pull the sci fi aesthetic off pretty well. Its an entertaining show but i just feel it gets too much praise for what it is. Also deffinetly not a chuddy anime like somebaldi itt suggested.
