$uicideboy$ and XXXTENTACION songs were used by people like T R a S h to make Berserk, Cowboy Bebop or Hellsing AMVs and those attracted edgy kids (me as a caca) and edgy egirls.
As time went by this format was widened in terms of rappers and anime of choice until we got to where we are today.
