I mean nobody is forcing you to watch post-2020 anime, there's a large amount of pre-2020 anime and manga you can watch. One manga I would recommend is Buddha by Osamu Tazuka, of Astroboy Fame. I never finished it but it was a good read, it's basically a retelling of Siddhartha Gautama's life from a manga format with a few fictional bits thrown in.
