Aside from anime, learning Japanese will almost certainly have no impact on your life whatsoever and it's one of the hardest languages to learn! You'd be better off learning a language that might actually be helpful to you in real life, like chinese or spanish!

Don't they literally have people memorize thousands of them through the school curriculum in Japan?
Anyway, even if you didn't have to memorize kanji, you'd still have to watch all of your anime, play your vidya and VNs in Japanese without subtitles in order to immerse and that means you're wasting a bunch of anime by watching them without understanding anything. Considering that you'd have to do this for more than a year in order to even begin to understand anything, you would waste A LOT of anime and I don't want to do that.
