I think most people who play this game expecting it to be "Undertale but made in the 90s" get disappointed once they realize it's not like that at all. So as a result, you have a lot of people who are aware that this game heavily influenced Undertale but haven't actually played it to the end. Earthbound's humor is actually pretty dry and crude compared to Toby Fox's.

Troons would hate Mother 3 if it came out today. It portrays troons as bearded perverted crossdressing men (the Magypsies). One of the magypsies is even implied to rape the main character (who is an underage boy) in one fade-to-black scene.

When I discovered eearthbound/mother 2 as a caca it wasn't so popular as years after and nowadays by far, even with all the smash bros hype or at least it was that for me (and it's not like I was an internet addict durint that time for being always super-aware of whatever meme trend and faggot shit from tumbrl or foidslop like wattpad fanfics), apart frim that it was mostly mentioned by heckin' slow burnin a24 horror videos about creepy bosses, and I only knew about it due tot that before getting into it later.

Same with OFF, Yume Nikki, and Cave Story as far as I'm aware. Surprisingly Brandish hasn't been hit by this despite Kris resembling the main character as much as Frisk resembled Ness.
Maybe because the camera control scene is so weird compared today (you get used to it though) and the characters are much less cartoony/stylized compared to the other inspirations.
