 β„–67462[Quote]

It’s pretty good, but it needs some stability mods in order to not fuck up in a hundred different ways and corrupt your save, at least in my case

>ugly
>unfun gameplay (magdump enemies and eat 5000 stimpaks, this never changes; functionally zero skill expression)
>interesting setup that falls off a cliff as soon as you find benny and the game becomes about 3 gay factions
>mostly uninteresting characters
>no talking heads
Idk how anyone likes this game.

I bought it and got bored instantly. I played for about 2 hours

 β„–67474[Quote]

i liked fallout 1 more

 β„–67475[Quote]

>>67474
fallout 1 felt more immersive and less like i was doing things just to get the "heckin le good wholesome" ending. it felt like i was some random dude compared to being treated as important for killing a single dude as revenge

Kino equivalent of Bros movie

I'm a gun sperg so 3d fallout games are unplayable for me without combat overhaul mods. That aside, the map is not that big and many locations look barren as shit and have nothing worth your time going on in them. Exploration of the world is underwhelming, which is pretty fucking bad for a post-apoc open world game. The "role-playing element" is kinda dnb, like you make your build that affects combat mostly, which is shit, and like different quest options I don't think are really meaningful. Like repconn quest, you can help heckin ghoulerinos and supermutatnterinos solve their beef and save evveryone! And then you chelp the ghouls to go to space!!!!!!!! Or if you're an evil chud you can kill everyone, or hecking betray them and fuck up the rocket launch. Keep in mind that those ghouls and shadow mutatns are total DNB SNCA factions you will never encounter again and you get no interesting reward for putting in effort and solving their retarded conflict. It's not even morally satisfying, they are all different flavors of retarded, if I was replaying FNV now I would just fucking tarrant blast them with the service rifle going for trickshots. VATS is also a dnb turn based rpg carryover gimmick thing, does not make any sense in a first person shooter.

Basically the quests, which are supposed to be the strong part, are not very interesting, and exploration of the world isn't that good either. Combat is not good but I'm biased on that. Just fucking pirate it man, it's on gog-games. Learn to pirate if you're a no-torrent poopa, install fucking q-bit torrent client and you're good to go downloading from links like these.

It's not fun.

 β„–67484[Quote]

I couldn't tell you because i haven't played it vanilla for so long geg. But it's got plenty of bugs and some issues on modern computers. Follow the Viva New Vegas modding guide, it's a compilation of bug fixes with a guide on how to install them assuming you're new to modding

 β„–67486[Quote]

>>67484
Viva New Vegas isn’t really necessary if you just want the game to work. If you turn off the gameplay changes, which you should for the first playthrough, it’s almost identical to vanilla anyway because most of the mods are complete snca that change cloud positioning or some shit

In my case my pc brapped itself trying to play it vanilla, but yeah if it just works for OP then he doesn't need to concern himself with that stuff

 β„–67490[Quote]

FNV fanboys will claim it's "le morally grey and hard" then the choices are pretty obvious. i'm not saying the classic fallouts were much better but at least their fans are honest about it.

I bought it in 2019 and became obsessed with it. until 2021-22 it was the game i knew the most about and i know it front to back, i think it has great narrative.
That said, i cannot bring myself to play it anymore. Not only i have played it so much that is not fun anymore, but once you see problems in it, you will never stop seeing them. I think a good videogame is one which repeated play makes you better without feeling like a waste of time or skill, fnv fails at this; it's an unfinished game with a painfully slow and scripted start, and the skill ceiling just consists on learning the meta which is super easy to break. This could be a complain about the entire roleplay genre i guess, but i only care about fnv so i'm complaining here.
The most damming thing i can say about it is that is more fun to learn the lore and listen to the dialogues than it is to play it. As said before, very compelling narrative, very tiresome gameplay.
I think this idea of mine is related to the fact that my first gaming experiences were all arcade games, challenging, fast and built for repeated gameplay instead of one very long experience. Trying to put that mindset in an rpg makes you hate rpgs.
Play Dark Seal instead, it's kino.

All of what you say is true. The game is better on it's dlc than in the actual game because they give you a definitive challenge and try to constrain you to beat it. Dead Money is peak fallout gameplay because is the only time in any fallout game (yes including the old ones) where you actually have to learn the systems instead of abusing a meta.
It's curious that fallout becomes infinitely more interesting the moment you make the gameplay the central focus.

overrated as fuck, 1 and 2 are superior
