This thread is about Jetpack Joyride
If you're not familar with the game, or just haven't played since you were a caca and forgot about everything, here's a small guide I've just made:
<
>What's Jetpack Joyride?
If you've somehow been living under a rock for the past 15 years, Jetpack Joyride (Shortened to JPJR or JJ) is an endless runner game where you break into a lab, steal a jetpack, and fly down the endless hallway collecting coins, tokens, power-ups, and vehicles. Your score depends on how far you go before dying.
>I downloaded the game, what should I do first?
Focus on getting coins, completing missions, and unlocking gadgets.
You will need a LOT of coins as you play, but there are gadgets and power ups that can help with that.
>What do I use coins for?
You use them for buying gadgets, power-ups/power-up upgrades, and cosmetic items.
>What are gadgets and how do you use them and unlock them?
Pretty self-explanatory, but they're tools/items/functions that are meant help you out during gameplay.
There are 6 sectors of gadgets. You automatically unlock the first sector of gadgets, but in order to unlock the other sectors, you need to buy gadgets and/or get to a certain level. More on levels later.
There are 2 gadget slots, (((but you can buy a 3rd slot for a couple dollars)))
I'll give you a list of all the gadgets, what they do, and if they're good not.
<
First sector of gadgets:
Half a brick - Makes you stop instantly when you die and hit the ground instead of bouncing foward. Pretty pointless, but helps out with certain missions and achievements. Overall, not very good.
Flash - A robot dog that collects coins, tokens, and knocks down scientists alongside you. He's alright, most people just use him as a companion. Can sometimes mess you up in missions where you need to high-five scientists, and there are better options for collecting coins. He is also needed for an achievement. Overall, he's alright and nice to have.
Air Barrys - A pair of shoes that increases your vertical jump. Often times it messes you up, plus it forces you to jump up a certain amount, which isn't good when you don't want to go that high in the first place. It's also not needed for missions or achievements either so I wouldn't get this. Overall, it's not the best but you can try it out if you want.
Nerd Repellent - Makes all scientists in the lab disappear. Does absolutely nothing to benefit you gameplay-wise, and you should only use this for a certain achievement or mission. Overall, it's pointless.
Insta-Ball - Instead of falling on the floor, you now deploy a ball that takes you further when you die. When bouncing, you also go upwards vertically by quite a bit which is useful for collecting additional coins. It's ok, but I wouldn't use it. You shouldn't use gadgets that only deploy when you die, actually.
<
Second sector of gadgets:
Gravity Belt - Makes you fall downwards faster, making your downwards vertical speed match your upwards vertical speed. Incredibly good for mobility, and is a must have if you're going for a high score. One of the best gadgets in the game, definitely use if you're going for a good score. I use this in my loadout.
Missile Jammer - Has a chance to make missiles malfunction so you don't die from it. This is pretty good, so if you're going for a high score you should probably use this.
Token Gift - A free token at the beginning of a game. It's easier to collect than a normal token (it tries to fly towards you) and it's also needed for an achievement. However it's not that good since it's just one token. I wouldn't use this.
<
Third sector of gadgets:
More in reppeys, how could you tell?

Third sector of gadgets:
Freeze-O-Matic Deploys when you die, but it freezes you and makes you slide which makes you go further than usual. However, this one is worse than Insta-Ball because it takes you a shorter distance (10 meters shorter) and since you just slide on the ground there's less of a chance for you to collect coins. Not good, don't use this, don't use any death-deployed gadgets, and even if you do, use Insta-Ball instead.
X-Ray Specs - A piece of eyewear that let's you see the vehicle instead a vehicle box. Pointless since you will always want to get the vehicle box anyway. Don't use this.
GEMology - Makes coins have a chance to become a red gem, which is worth 5 times as much. VERY good for coin collecting and it pays itself off in the long run, it's an investment. As it says in the name, itsa gem. Definitely use this for coin collecting. I use this in my loadout, and this should be one of the first gadgets you get.
<
Fourth sector of gadgets:
Ezy-Dodge Missiles - Turns all missiles blue and makes them significantly slower, which also makes them easier to dodge. It's ok, but I'd use missile jammer instead. It also has no effect during the lategame since the missiles will still go as fast as a normal missile would. I wouldn't use this, use missile jammer as I mentioned earlier.
Magnetic Tokens - Makes collecting tokens easier. It's ok, but tokens aren't super important. I wouldn't really use this.
Flying Pig - Chance for a flying golden piggy to spawn, and when collected, it drops some coins. Used to be decent for coin collecting, but has been made redundant by the Cash-Dash powerup (More on power-ups later.) Not too bad, but I wouldn't use this for coin collecting.
<
Fifth sector of gadgets:
Free Ride - A free vehicle at the start of a game. Good for doing certain missions since even after retrying a game you get the same vehicle, and it's also needed for an achievement. Besides that, it's still not that good. I wouldn't use this in general, but definitely for missions.
Coin Magnet - Shekelsteins favorite gadget. Self-explanatory, but makes coins even easier to collecting by attracting them towards you. This is the best gadget for coin collecting, DEFINITELY use this alongside gemology. I use this in my loadout.
Lucky Last - Makes your final token spin be extra lucky. Makes it so you're guaranteed to get something from the last spin. I wouldn't use it.
<
Sixth and final sector of gadgets:
Dezapinator - Makes it so zappers have a chance to deactivate. VERY good for high-score runs, and you should definitely use this alongside gravity belt and/or missile jammer. Very gemmy, definitely use this if you're going for a high score.
Turbo Boost - Has a chance to spawn during gameplay, and summons rings in front of you. If you go through the rings, it boosts you and you're basically safe for a couple hundred meters. Pretty good, but wouldn't use in a high-score loadout as there are better options.
<
>Not reading all that, what are the best gadgets to have in your loadout?
If you only have 2 slots:
Use gemology and coin magnet for collecting coins
Use dezapinator and gravity belt for high score. (You can swap out gravity belt for missile jammer if you want.
If you have 3 slots:
Use gemology, coin magnet, and Flash for collecting coins. (Or if you like gravity belt, use that instead of Flash)
Use dezapinator, gravity belt, and missile jammer for high-scores.
<
>What are power-ups?
Power-ups are similar to tokens, however you have to buy them at first, then you can upgrade them for their effects to be more powerful. They spawn, fly around, and when you collect it, it'll give you special benefits.
There are 4 power-ups, I'll list them all:
Cash Dash - Summons a trail of coins you follow, and at the end there's a golden piggy bank that when collected, summons a whole bunch of coins. Depending on how much you upgrade it, the coin trail will be longer and the piggy bank will contain more coins.
Boost - Boosts you a certain distance depending on level.
Shield - Lets you tank a fatal hit. Depending on level, it lets you tank more hits.
Rocket Time - The most unique one. Slows down time and waves of slow, purple rockets appear. These rockets have a chance to have a trail of gems behind them, depending on level. After all the rockets pass and you dodge them, theres a vehicle box (or multiple depending on level) at the end. It also shows you what vehicle it is. If you get hit by a rocket, you don't die and it'll just end. Note that if you get hit by a rocket while you have a shield, the shield will take a hit.

>What are missions and levels?
Missions are tasks you have to complete. Depending on the difficulty of the mission, it can give 1, 2, or 3 stars. These stars are used to level you up.
Levels are just the level of your character. There is no max level, however, every 15 levels you prestige and get a badge.
>What are badges?
You get badges once you prestige, a prestige is every 15 levels. There are actually 125 possible badges to get. Yes you can get them all, but it'd take you ages.
>What are vehicles?
Should've mentioned in earlier but during gameplay there are vehicle boxes you can get. When you collect the vehicle box, you get a random vehicle which each have their own properties. Vehicles also let you tank a hit, but if you do get hit by something in a vehicle, it'll destroy it.
There's also S.A.M, aka the Strong Arm Machine.
SAM is part of a daily challenge where once a day there are small puzzle pieces you collect, there are three, and when you collect them all it spells out "SAM" and you get the big SAM vehicle. While you're in the vehicle, there are waves of missiles that get launched towards you and you have to use your strong arm to block them. SAM can tank 3 hits. The first 2 you will be fine, but the 3rd hit will make SAM explode and you'll go back to flying like normal.
Doing SAM everyday gets you rewards, too.
>Okay, what else?
There are also special events, cosmetics, and vehicles also have their own skins and magnetic counterparts.
>Ok, what are the vehicle skins and magnets?
Each vehicle has their own set of skins that you can buy, and they also have a "magnet" version that works similar to the Coin Magnet gadget except much stronger. It's pretty self-explanatory, but it just attracts magnets towards you. Definitely get this on each of your vehicles.
>What are events?
Events are usually some sort of collab, but during the event you can unlock specific awards such as costumes, coins, jetpacks, etc… I don't really play events so I don't know much unfortunately.
>What are those achievements you mentioned earlier?
Achievements are sort of like missions. Completing an achievement doesn't give you anything besides those Jewgle play points or whatever (If you're on Android), as for iPhones, I'm not sure what you get but probably something similar.
>What about Jetpack Joyride 2?
SNCA game.
Jokes aside, I haven't played it. Maybe will try it. But I'm sticking with the original.
<
I think that's pretty much it, I may have forgotten some things here and there but this should help out new/returning players.
Yes, I still play Jetpack Joyride in 2026, how could you tell?
