Ironically, the lefties who harp on about media literacy are genuinely the most media illiterate people you'll come across. For years these people have ripped on the chuddies for liking fallout 1 because it's "a critique of capitalism". Not only is this a retarded reading on its face of a game that was pretty obviously a game about how Mad Max is awesome, Tim Cain himself has repeatedly said that it wasn't about capitalism when asked. These people genuinely ruin any discussion about these games because they actually just want to rehash the same boring political fight, except framed around "sonic would hate you".
MGR:R is another one, where people, for some autistic reason think Armstrong is meant to be analogous to whatever real world politicians they don't like. This is despite the fact that the twist of his character is explicitly that he's /not/ a corrupt politician like Raiden thinks he is ("I was wrong, you're not greedy…") and actually aims to destroy/rebuild America as he sees it to be corrupted ("I'm using war as a business, to end war as a business"). Which is a conclusion that the game has already built up to beforehand, by showing you that the Denver Police are controlled by World Marshal. You have to outright ignore things for the leftie conclusion, like his boss theme being about how they're the same, Armstrong literally stopping to tell him "we're the same btw", Armstrong then falling dead directly inside of Raidens shadow, and then the next time we see Raiden he's parroting Armstrongs words to other people as justification for why he's doing what he's doing. This isn't to say that Armstrong isn't the bad guy, BTW.
