I could add F.E.A.R. but I feel it's more of a action FPS rather than a horror game, there are some parts that can make you jump out of your seat doe

It is a heckin nostalgerino PSX style game, but it's got really cool gameplay. It's an immersive Sim game. You sneak around the house, avoiding the killer and his mom, while collecting items which can be utilized in a number of ways. For example, you can find a gun. You can kill the killers mom (who screams and alerts the killers when she notices you, so killing her makes sneaking around much easier). The killer itself only gets stunned if you shoot him. There's also other people in the game you can rescue, or you can watch the killer kill them, or you can shoot them yourself with the gun. It's almost like a sandbox horror game.

The best horror game of all time is the original Silent Hill - this might sound dumb, but it's a genuinely underrated game due to being so overshadowed by the (barely) inferior Silent Hill 2.

Silent Hill 2 is absolutely incredible as well, and deserves all the praise it gets. Do NOT play the new Silent Hill 2 remake. It is so much shittier and objectively worse than the original game in every possible way. In my opinion, it's actually a good IQ litmus test. I've never seen an intelligent person with good taste who's liked, let alone preferred the remake.

Silent Hill 3 is worth playing, but it is drastically inferior to the first two games. The story is beyond shit, it's actually mind-bogglingly bad. It's a "sequel" to the first game the same way that Tumblr fanfiction is a sequel to whatever works they're based on, that is, it's incompetently written and directly contradicts/retcons important plotpoints. The benefit is that it makes it very easy to not let it taint your perspective of Silent Hill 1 though. The gameplay and art direction is really great, just like the first two games.

Definitely play Darkwood, nothing I've ever played before is like it. Amnesia the Bunker is oppressively intense gameplay-wise, but if you pay attention to lore and story stuff, I'd say Soma is horrifying in a particularly novel manner.
