I canβt figure out how to manoeuvre my little niggers around without them immediately running away from combat like slfs, but I like the blood splatter in Shogun II

>>62201not true, they are cheaper and still have bayonets, if you encircle your enemy you can just outgun them cheaply

best total war game?

I have to say I prefer Warhammer, if only because Skryre with the unlimited-ammo Ratling Guns is hilarious

medieval 2 modded is just the chefs kiss. I've been playing tsardoms total war and ive played a lot of total wars and this is the most fun ive ever had. It evolves through melee and cavalry, into developing heavier armor and deadly units, then into firearms and artillery with all of them still being viable and it also forces you to have a varied army instead of singular deathstacks of one type of unit. Best part is flanking with guns or artillery with grapeshot, holding the enemy troops in place with your own, making sure they dont get shot by archers or charged by cavalry and getting a volley off that annihilates a unit has got me busting nuts on every flank.

i thoroughly enjoy fots, the setting is awesome because you can have 200 nip samurai who have spent their whole life training who wield their great great great great grandfathers mystical katana get their shit kicked in by a bunch of angry hick american jarheads with bayonets
The synergy between melee units and ranged units is very good. You can, with proper strategy, beat a modern army with archaic units or even combine the 2.

>>62261Yeah but the person im responding clearly has brain damage and cant do that so, if he is just going to do line battles he needs to buy line infantry and grenadiers

>>62307>the person im responding clearly has brain damage and cant do thatI was talking about ashigaru in Shogun II
β62346[Quote]
>>62334They definitely won't, they won't even add naval battles because of how few people enjoy them and how much it takes to develop them, space battles would be even worse
β62348[Quote]
>>62064I'm honestly very interested to see where they take it
β62350[Quote]
>>62064I don't think it will be good, TW(p) formula might work for the numerous melee units, but ranged units don't stand around in big squares anymore. 40k battles also don't take place on big empty plains, they have plenty cover for firefights to take place, so if they don't make the maps r/interestingasfuck its going to look like a shitty reskin, which, wouldn't be too far off from what it actually is. Not to mention, CA hates innovation so all this shit might be balanced on a house of cards that is their heavily modded derelict 20yo game engine that they don't even know how it works anymore.
>Either way it will be an absolute goldmine with billion DLCs, because 40keks will buy ANYTHING with their space goys printed on the box.
