I think you're right. Both are bad, but parrying is just a glorified QTE and I won't pretend otherwise. It's fine as an entirely optional mechanic, like complex button combos in some action games, but no, it's basically forced on you every time because the games are built around it. Nearly all Millennials don't know how to make good games, and it's really beginning to show.
