if you want specifically platform games, i prefer yoshi's island tbh. In overall fun regardless of genre, super punch out. Opinion i know, and i think you are correct if you prefer super metroid based on overwhelming size and production.
snes is very overrated in general tho. super mario world, zelda attp, final fantasy vi or mother 2 are nowhere near as good as anyone over 30 will tell you.
