Dou you like killzone 1? i played it on my ps2 a few months ago and i thought it was really hard to control. I was fighting the very fast aim and low fov more than the alien bad guy nazi whatever the fuck they are.
I have never seen an FPS with good controls on a console, mouse goodestest o algo.

Resistance 2 had really good 60 player online multiplayer which was unheard of for consoles at the time. There was this super op mini gun with a laser shield that everyone used which was super annoying though

Basically for the first few they wanted to make them look more realistic but the consoles weren't powerful enough so making them look Grey/Brown/Yellow allowed them to do different effects, but after the first few a lot of other games began doing it, I think it looks better then both Modern UE5 slop and PSX troon slop atleast

Halo MCC has pretty decent and active mod support. I'm debating not getting the remake until it's under $40 because UE5 is not impressing me. It has small mods built into it, but it stull feels like too much.
