Just beat the game last night, here are my thoughts that everybaldi cares about, most of the shit I'm complaining about will probably be fixed as the game is still in early access
<Reddit
The Biodiversity for hostile fauna is extremely small, most of the early biomes in the game just use the Nibbler Mango and Marrowbreach, I'm hoping more hostile fauna is added into the early game to spice up the biomes
<
Some biomes in the game seem too similar to one another, the entire first portion of the map, with the exception of the graveyard, anemone hills, and thee shallows, feel extremely similar. the later game biomes don't suffer as much from this.
<
The creature design is amazing, the emphasis on crustaceans and corals really makes this game stand out from its predecessor, going forward, I would love to see more cephalopod representation.
<
The collector leviathan is ALMOST perfect, the only changes I would make is to increase its detection range, and to allow it to use it's appendages to grab players hiding in narrow spaces, this would make the collector a lot more of a threat, and make the trek to the observatory much more dangerous than it is now.
<
I like how they made the Needler Shark endemic, however the biome it resides in is far too small, expanding the biome and potentially buffing the Needler Sharks would do wonders for the biome. This would create a higher risk while farming enamel, and encourage less braindead strategies of running in and out with your Tadpole.
<
The Tadpole is a decent vehicle, however It feels WAY too Tanky. To fix this, I think they should make the Tadpole chassis SIDEGRADES instead of upgrades. the base Tadpole would be balanced in speed and defense, while the scout ray chassis would lose the defense and grant speed, and the haul chassis would lose speed but gain defense. also lower the base defense of the Tadpole.

I finally started playing the original after hearing about the sequel the other day. Should I play below zero or 2 afterward, or should I hold off?
â„–59525[Quote]
>>59509 (OP)What's the narrative like? Is it like first game where PDA talks to you ocassionally and sometimes you will find a voicelog so you feel MUH ALONE. Or like Below Zero with bunch of SNCA characters
â„–59529[Quote]
>>59522From what I've heard, below zero is some real sloppa. Whether or not you play the second one depends on if you plan on replaying it after a major update or the full release, since the game isn't done yet geg. Personally, I would hold off on playing it, maybe get it now or when its on sale since they might increase the price for the full release.
â„–59562[Quote]
>>59522Below zero isn't that good, that being said, I still enjoyed playing it, it just lacks the atmosphere the first game had
>>59525the PDA is a lot like the first game, also like the first game, the lore you do get is from dead survivors.
as for the lore, I thought it was pretty cool. there are remnants of a past intelligent species on the planet, and there are biomes themed around that. The focal point of the story, from my understanding, is the giant coral tree. The tree is like some sort of infection that seems to influence people to worship and go near the tree. Kind of reminds me of Dead Space

looks interesting, liked 1 and below zero so vvill play it some time after release. Does it have denuvo btw?
â„–59578[Quote]
>>59522In BZ you literally play as a sassy black woman that keeps talking. The map is small and shallow and the land mechanics suck. Play the original and then 2
â„–59621[Quote]
>>59578Don't forget, they made the PDA a jeet in BZ
â„–59686[Quote]
>>59578only thing good about BZ is the creature designs (iceworm is one of the coolest designs in the series, shame it had to be included in such a boring game)
â„–59698[Quote]
>>59562It might tie in whith natural selection 2 (game made by the subnautica devs before subnautica) the plague thing in that game looks like a mix of the kharaa and some sort of plant.

>>59509 (OP)How goonable is the female character model thoughie?
â„–59749[Quote]
>>59700you can chose to be a female if it affirms your gender, you can pick between a chink or a nigger
â„–59770[Quote]
so it really is just subnautica 1… again
â„–59771[Quote]
>>59770It's fucking gemmy though
â„–59777[Quote]
>>59771I hate the weird DEI character selection. Playing as an indonigger in the first one was bad enough, now they let you play as an aryan, but he looks like a fag
â„–59778[Quote]
>>59771if faggots like it then i dont like it, i wanted to buy it too
subnautica 2 is brimstone for faggots now
â„–59783[Quote]
>>59781you autist, i know, i was exaggerating to humiliate this fool
â„–59801[Quote]
>>59777In fairness, iirc there's actually an in-lore explanation for the characters being brown. They're all refugees from Mongolian space or whatever because kharaa raped those sectors extra hard.
â„–59851[Quote]
>>59777All of their characters look like ugly playdough trollz people, they dont even match the style of the rest of the game it pisses me off so much.
â„–60014[Quote]
>>59509 (OP)nothing does enough damage to be a threat (the collector literally does 3 damage to you tadpole if it grabs you), there is little to no interaction with the fauna (most of which is nibblers which do 1 dmg with a 10 second attack cooldown) until you get he bioscanner, the full chassis upgrade on the tadpole just makes it worse, they fired the sound designer for reposting problematic media so the atmosphere just doesn't feel intriguing/induce thalassophobia at all. Basebuilding has gotten a lot nicer however. All in all game just feels like brimstone craftslop o algo
â„–60027[Quote]
>>60014I don't like the direction they took
The first game took place in a planet that sure was dangerous but you could get a base in a location that looked like paradise; here everything looks hostile and a little off in my opinion
â„–60029[Quote]
>>60027In fairness, the planet is basically described as being fundamentally incompatible with normal human life; the concentration of heavy metals alone was killing people within the span of months. 4546B had at least some redeeming qualities that caught Alterra's interest, whereas Proteus was a completely unplanned accident.
â„–60067[Quote]
>>60029It's true what you say but it was the studio that has chosen the game's setting.
â„–60083[Quote]
Lack of weapons is brimstone. I remember that I stabbed to death a young ghost leviathan with thermo knife in first part cuz he was breaking my sub and mech
I HATE THIS FUCKING NIGGER>>60014>they fired the sound designer for reposting problematic mediaReally bad decision. This is a sign of shittification. For example when the short videoclips artist (like ones before bosses) of Blasphemous was removed. They hired somephono who drew it all in tranime style, not even pixelated to game's grid. These clips make impression they're from another game.
â„–60085[Quote]
>>60083It isnt drawn in a tranime style you faggot, its clearly western animation.

>>60088true i guess, they could just put a filter over the animation
â„–60128[Quote]
>>60067It does help to sell the idea of a truly alien world a bit at the least.
â„–60160[Quote]
>>60128I guess but I still don't like the new direction
If you want to know where did they get a lot of ideas I think for the creatures check Darwin-4
