That reminds me. 1440p 120fps/hz, both native without upscaling, is where it's at for diminishing returns. Even if you went full retard and got a 5090, 4K is too demanding for the visual improvement and I'm not going to pretend the input latency improvement is actually worth it past that point. The one thing Nvidia did well is their Pulsar monitor tech they recently released, which reduces sample and hold blur to near CRT levels. OLED is also a massively overrated display technology when miniLED exists and is basically guaranteed to last much longer. Like, just turn on a light in your room bro, the blooming goes away and le OLED microcontrast doesn't matter so much in practice when you have any dim light on in your room.

I completely agree that 1440p and 120Hz is the limit where afterwards barely any change is noticable. I said 720p/30Hz was acceptable, but from there to 1440/120 the changes are still major and worth paying more for, I meant it more that every nigga buying a computer should be able to have a budget option at 720/30 because realistically thats enough for people who might only play games like CS, Minecraft and Stardew.

OLED screens and their higher contrast was impressive the first time I used one, but I get annoyed now whenever I play a winter map in War Thunder because the white is way too strong. A regular IPS screen or miniLED is better. I do wish they still produced CRTs though, they could have made decently cheap 720p/120Hz screens with practically zero blur that would be great for gaming, the pixel blurring of a CRT means that even lower resolutions look really nice

You are rarely going to use a phone for anything demanding anyway, especially if you have a pc or console at home. Mobile gaming has always been terrible and you can play very few games with an emulator since touch controls are terrible for fast response games. So you don't really need a modern or powerful phone, just one that achieves what a phone is meant to do. And you waste less money that way instead of changing it every 2-4 years.

I'm not sure about the chink phone idea. I have a motorola (owned by lenovo) and its really hard to do basic custom rom stuff like installing a recovery and even popular roms like lineage usually don't cover them.
It is true that there is no difference between having your data stolen by koreans, amerimutts or chinese, but there is a difference in how easily you can get rid of that.
In my experience, samsung has been the most consistent on getting custom roms installed as easily as possible, although i changed phone in 2022 so it may be harder today, but at least i'm certain they have support for some, unlike the motorola phone i have now where there is little life outside the official android.
