I dislike most online games with absolutely zero progression. I wasted a lot of hours when I was younger on fps games and I have nothing at all to show for it, I don't even remember any moment of the couple hundred hours I spent on tf2. At least if you spend a gorillion hours in something like the 'craft you should have a few neat builds that you are proud of.
This doesn't really apply to singleplayer games, as they have to focus on making the game fun enough to replay instead of depending on mood swing gameplay where you crush the enemy team and then they crush you in exchange for shekels to increase your rank.
I find most walking simulators completely uninteresting, having a fully traversable and interactable map doesn't mean you have to make it boring as shit and empty. Mario Odyssey does this decently well, the worlds are all fully traversable with collectables to find yet they aren't a huge empty plains with nothing in it, you don't need a huge map to give a sense of exploration.
