should i buy a ipod classic or a video ?

I mean I feel like it would be better buying some modern end mp3 player but if you insist on a iPod and plan to mainly listen to music I would say to buy the iPod mini (The classic and iPod video are the same thing)
<
It's easier to mod the thing, you just have to be careful opening it just like any other piece of technology hell you can just buy a pre-modded one eBay (doebeit those are a bit of a risk since they might use bad parts for those iPods) you can also install rock box on it aswell
<
The only reason for buying an iPod video/classic would only be if your a audiophile since the iPod video (5th generation iPod) has the best dac or if you just want to watch videos on the iPod though you would have to convert videos to even play them on the iPod (you can actually watch videos on the iPod mini through rockbox but you can imagine its not very enjoyable watching on the equivalent of a calculator screen)

best mp3 players are any of the LG phones with quad dac. like just buy second-hand LG phone.
for example i have an LG v30 which has a microsd slot so i can basically put infinite music on it

LG V10 (Note: Has a single 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC, not a Quad DAC, but it started the trend and sounds fantastic).
LG V20 (The very first smartphone in the world to feature a 32-bit Quad DAC. Also the last flagship phone with a removable battery).
LG V30 / V30+ / V30S ThinQ (Refined design, excellent Quad DAC tuned by B&O Play in some regions).
LG V40 ThinQ (Quad DAC, tuned by Meridian Audio).
LG V50 ThinQ 5G (Quad DAC, Meridian Audio tuning).
LG V60 ThinQ 5G (The final heavy-hitter. Features the Quad DAC, a massive battery, and is widely considered the ultimate LG phone for audiophiles today).
📱 The "G" Series (Mainstream Flagships)
LG eventually brought the Quad DAC to its mainstream G-series, but there are some major regional catches you need to be aware of.
LG G5 (Note: Did not have a Quad DAC built-in. You had to buy the external "LG Hi-Fi Plus" modular attachment made by B&O to get the 32-bit DAC).
LG G6 ⚠️ BUYER BEWARE: Only the Asian/South Korean models of the G6 got the Quad DAC. The US and European versions of the G6 did not have it.
LG G7 ThinQ (Quad DAC included globally).
LG G8 ThinQ (Quad DAC included globally).
LG G8X ThinQ (Quad DAC included. Famous for its Dual Screen case).
💎 The "Q" Series (Mid-Range Hidden Gems)
LG put the Quad DAC in a few budget/mid-range phones to appeal to audiophiles on a budget, though they can be hard to find depending on your country.
LG Q8 (2017) (Essentially a mini LG V20; includes the Quad DAC).
LG Q7+ ⚠️ BUYER BEWARE: Only the Q7+ (Plus) model has the Quad DAC. The standard Q7 and Q7a do not.
LG Q70 (Included the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, though performance was slightly bottlenecked by mid-range processors compared to the V-series).
