That's just a screenshot from dwm's site. I do use dwm, but none of that. I just didn't want to take a screenshot of what my real set up looks like.

To explain why. I've shown mine before outside this site. It looks fairly distinct so unlikely if someone recognized it would immediately give away who I am. I could have changed the theming, and other things my real setup has but at that point why even show a screenshot of it?

on a serious note though i really like cinnamon and KDE plasma aswell, i used hyprlands too which is cool like the larps are fine and the rices are neat but its performative and theres no usecases, even though we are more experienced endusers that doesnt mean we need resource eating gimmicks, i use an intel integrated gpu(this is just a burner laptop for browsing the internet and fucking off) and using cachyos with hyprland with an animated background took up about 40-50% of my gpu and a good portion of RAM plus some swap space it was hell.

>>42899So far trying most of these I have a feeling I'm just going to go back to what I was doing before. Using dwm. Pretty much any desktop/wm performs well enough on my computer, and I'm just on a thinkpad. The biggest thing I've been struggling with trying out all of these desktops (I mentioned it in another thread) coming from using dwm for a while is the workflow is just worse IMO. Even with the tiling they have it feels bad compared to the way dynamic tiling works on dwm, and I hate that navigation between windows doesn't cycle like it does on dwm. Everything feels like a downgrade for me. Especially because I already have things configured perfectly for what I do on my window manager. So moving to a desktop literally gives me nothing I don't have, and I lose things I actually care about. I was wondering if I would come out of using my setup and see how having a desktop is actually good. I have a feeling people I see saying they moved from window managers to DE's were people who just used window managers to rice them, and otherwise didn't care much about the workflow though at this point.
