Eventually that will be the end goal. The brain and spinal cord are pretty good in the long term, as long as you dont get fucked by Alzheimer's. If they could find a way to regulate hormones so that you could have the ability to learn as easily as kids do, that would be good. But i guess the troons want all the hormone research for themselves.
Hearts and lungs are pretty well researched and would probably be possible to get fully artificial ones in a short time frame. The main difficulty would he be finding a way to actually connect your nervous system to new organs and change over without you dying. Eyes would probably be difficult, imagine being stuck with the wrong FOV or with a video delay for the rest of your life.
I think its worth it for soyentists to research. For the first test subjects, use terminally ill patients and for the really risky parts, theres plenty of pedos in prison

With current medical tech we can connect severed limbs together so long as it hasn't been too long since the nerves were cut. When nerves are severed, they stay alive for a few hours before dying so if you just sew the major nerves (i.e. medial ulnar and radial nerves if it's an arm) together, they will eventually heal and repair any other damaged nerves. An interesting case happened at my med school, where a guy accidentally snipped off a baby's finger. The doctos managed to sew the metacarpal part back together fast enough that a full recovery was made. The guy got expelled by the way, obviously. I imagine if we can coerce nervous cells to form connections at arbitrary chemical pointers we can primitive cybernetics by 2035.

And the destination point? Grow yourself a gigabody, in grayscale.
