creating the illusion of organic discourse. they want you to think these are real people and this is a real thing. And look at us, we're discussing the NEGATIVES and AI development should slow down, how could that be advertising?
because it feeds into an illusion that AI is impactful instead of the meaningless tinkertoy that it is
you can think it's great
you can think it's scary and evil
both of these opinions give it power
they would hate if you saw through the smoke and mirrors. if you remained unimpressed and unaffected. that's disaster

It's for regulatory capture. They want AI regulation because their lobbyists will be writing the laws. It will pretty much just cripple open and over seas models in a way that these companies can absorb the cost of. But you're also sort of right, it does create a sort of mythos that normgroids, especially millennials and beyond, believe. Plus it's free advertisement
