i have noticed paid adverts are shitting up google engine results specifically, whenever im forced to use google the first 3 results are literally paid adverts that are shitty alternatives to the website i was searching

i use searXNG which is a privacy frontend and search aggregator

it combines the results of 10 different search engines for me and then i start getting decent results (and even niche websites if you enable the ones like wiby or neocities)

it would be really nice if you could add Kagi and Yandex to it, but whatever, you can switch between searXNG/Kagi/Yandex then you start getting decent results.

and 4get is a search engine on searXNG made by some troon but it also gave decent results back when i tried it

would u say that it gives u better results than ddg/brave search? i tried some public instances in the past, tried to configure them as best as i could and even then the results were mid

duckduckgo is just bing results, i enable some combination of brave+bing/ddg at minimum.
but theres extensions you can do to get the notifications boxes at the top without AI, like wolfram alpha lets you type in math problems, wikipedia shows wiki summaries.

to use search bangs (like !yt) you have to type !!yt to search directly on youtube, !yt gives you a privacy search for youtube videos that is better imo. Then for AI searches I have a Libredirect extension set up to redirect google to brave search, so if I type "!!g" I get a brave search with AI summary.
