i think linux is a little broken as a whole really
there are many questionable decisions and practices
but we make do with what we have
the distros i would actually go near for my purposes would be gentoo and artix, maybe void
artix is good for just getting stuff up and running
gentoo is better for security
you can always make your own linux distro and manage things however you want but at that point you might be better off switching to one of the bsd derivatives. at some point, writing your own os kernel and after that designing everything from scratch yourself
but then, the isolation becomes a problem without adoption
