does DWM live up to the hype?
what makes it special compared to other options?

>whole thing is like 4000 lines
>you WILL configure it only by editing the source
>"dwm is customized through editing its source code, which makes it extremely fast and secure - it does not process any input data which isn't known at compile time, except window titles and status text read from the root window's name. You don't have to learn Lua/sh/ruby or some weird configuration file format (like X resource files), beside C, to customize it for your needs: you only have to learn C (at least in order to edit the header file)."
>"dwm is an extremely fast, small, and dynamic window manager for X."
<does DWM live up to the hype?
^why hype?
<what makes it special compared to other options?
^it's simple. it's fast. it depends on what you want to use it for; if you don't want all the extra shit that comes with other things and you literally just want a window manager, use dwm. if you want more than just that, modify dwm.

Kind of dumb given that it's built on top of X11 which negates any LoC benefit. There are wayland ports doe

wayland is brapped as well though and we should just write a completely new system
wayland is also fundamentally brapped

>how do we do dis>
^instead of doing the nigger method we write an actual server/client based display protocol where the server specifies geometry and content to render e.g. basically just specifying things like "this text with this font here" or "draw this n dimensional object here using these vectors". if you want fancy shaders you could extend it by having packages (managed by whatever manager you use) and/or sending shaders server to client and having fallbacks. warn client if no appropriate shader or something. shaders and that and everything else you want could be extensions instead of just already being built in. you could also extend the protocol for things like predicting ahead of time what the server is going to tell the client to render
>how do we do uhhhh game and uhhh video or images or something
^if running on the same machine pass your media straight through memory, else stream it as video
>would this actually work well?
^i don't know
>[the entire library of babel]
^i don't know
